Privacy Policy

Privacy has always mattered a lot to me — I hate unnecessary tracking, and I've kept this site clean and simple. This Privacy Policy explains how I handle any information when you visit theartofbeingstraight.com (the "Site") or interact with the new AI chatbot (powered by Dify and Kimi K2 via OpenRouter). By using the Site or chatbot, you agree to these practices. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

1. What I Collect

  • Newsletter & basic contact: If you sign up, I collect only your email address to send the weekly newsletter and occasional updates. That's it.
  • Chatbot interactions (new): When you chat with the AI assistant, it collects:
    • Your messages/prompts/questions.
    • Any details you voluntarily share in conversation (e.g., personal thoughts, experiences).
    • Automatically: Basic technical info like IP address, browser type, approximate location (from IP), and usage timestamps — standard for any web service.
  • What I don't collect: No cookies, no ads, no trackers, no analytics beyond what's needed for the site/chatbot to function. No social media logins, no device fingerprinting.

2. How Your Information Is Used

  • Newsletter emails: Only to send you what you signed up for.
  • Chatbot: To generate helpful responses in real time. Your inputs go to Dify (the platform I use to build/host the chatbot), then routed via OpenRouter to the Kimi K2 model (from Moonshot AI) for processing.
  • Site improvement: I may review anonymized/aggregated usage patterns (e.g., popular topics) to make things better — never tied to you personally.
  • Legal/compliance: If required by law (rare).

Important note on AI providers: OpenRouter routes requests and may log metadata for reliability. Moonshot AI (Kimi K2) and some providers may use inputs to improve models/services unless Zero Data Retention is enforced. OpenRouter supports ZDR on select Kimi K2 providers. I don't control their exact policies, but I don't sell or share your data beyond what's needed for the chatbot to work.

3. Storage & Retention

  • Newsletter emails: Kept until you unsubscribe (one-click easy).
  • Chatbot conversations: Stored temporarily in Dify for context (ongoing chats) and quality/debugging. After the retention period (30 days), data is removed unless legally required.
  • No long-term personal profiling.

4. Sharing

I never sell your data — ever. Sharing is limited to:

  • Service providers: Dify, OpenRouter, Moonshot AI (only to deliver the chatbot).
  • Legal requirements: If a court/subpoena demands it.

5. Security

I use reasonable measures (HTTPS encryption, secure hosting) to protect what little data exists. But no system is perfect — absolute security can't be guaranteed.

6. Your Rights

You can:

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter anytime (one click).
  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data (e.g., email or chatbot history).
  • Opt out of any future processing where applicable.

For chatbot data deletion: Mention your conversation details or approximate dates — I'll handle removal from Dify where possible.

7. International Transfers

Data may be processed in various countries (e.g., US-based OpenRouter servers or others for Moonshot AI). I rely on the providers' security measures for transfers.

8. Children's Privacy

This Site/chatbot isn't for children under 16. I don't knowingly collect data from kids.

9. Changes

I'll update this policy if needed (e.g., if chatbot setup changes). Check back here — continued use means acceptance.
